Parents as Partners

Partners in Education

Parents are encouraged to join the Parents as Partners Association (PPA) to enhance their Ambassador's school experience and build a network of support. Parents are encouraged to participate in classroom and school activities by volunteering, as well as be involved in fundraising  activities to support technology expansion and other school improvements.

Curriculum

HPCA aligns its curriculum with National and State of Maryland Education standards in Mathematics, Financial Literacy, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Technology and Spanish. Students and faculty augment subjects utilizing IXL and Khan Academy; student achievement and growth are measured through the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA).

Extended Services

  • Morning Care and Aftercare are extended services provided to families for an additional fee. 
  • Morning care is provided from 6:30am-8:15am. 
  • Breakfast is provided at no additional cost for morning care students.
  • Aftercare is provided from 3:50pm to 6:30pm with an afternoon snack.

Volunteer Policy

In order to encourage a healthy and safe climate for HPCA Ambassadors, a criminal background check will be required for all volunteers and chaperones, which must be consented to and completed at the sole cost of the volunteer, chaperone, and/or parent.

Weather Policy

HPCA follows the same winter weather school closing or cancellation policy as Prince George's County Public Schools. Any deviation will be communicated in advance. HPCA will communicate closures and/or delays through the following media outlets: 

  • NBC WRC-TV Channel 4
  • FOX5 News
  • WJLA Channels 7 & 8
  • CBS Channel 9
  • RenWeb Parent Alert System

School Uniforms

Highland Park Christian Academy is a uniform school. All uniforms may be purchased at Flynn O’Hara Uniforms Store. 8807 Annapolis Road in Lanham, MD 20706; Phone number: (240) 764-4545 

Athletics

Highland Park Christian Academy is an active member of the Greater Washington Christian Athletic Conference with the Metro Independent  School Athletic League. By providing a range of competitive athletics, Highland Park  Christian Academy works to instill in all of our student athletes a firm foundation for a lifetime of physical activity and the importance of personal fitness. Through these various athletic activities and regardless of individual skill level, we work tirelessly to ensure full participation for athletes to support building character, exhibiting self-discipline, and developing teamwork skills. We currently offer the following Athletic Activities for 3rd through 8th graders:

  • Coed Soccer
  • Middle School Girls' Volleyball
  • Basketball (Boys and Girls)
  • Coed Flag Football
  • Coed Track & Field
  • Cheerleading
